McManus laughs off Tucker's 84-yard FG claim

Broncos kicker Brandon McManus isn't buying the idea that the high-altitude Denver air would be enough for Justin Tucker to hit a kick from 84 yards out.

Responding to the lofty claim made by the Baltimore Ravens kicker Thursday, McManus says he'd pay for the trip out to Colorado if Tucker can somehow convert.

"I will give him an all-expense paid trip if he can do it," McManus said, according to Mike Klis of 9News. "I'll pay for his flight, his hotel, if he wants to come out here and do it. I'll kick with him, I'll witness it and I'll vouch to the world that he can do it."

Former Broncos kicker Matt Prater set the NFL record with a 64-yard field goal in 2013, thanks in part to the friendly home-field conditions. Two of the four kickers to ever convert on 63-yard tries (Jason Elam and Sebastian Janikowski) also did so in Denver.

Though Tucker claims to have hit an 85-yard attempt off the crossbar in pregame warmups last year, besting the current record by 20 yards in a game situation seems borderline impossible.

And since no coach would realistically permit a kick from that distance, an unofficial practice session between Tucker and McManus will have to suffice.
