Ben Gordon eyeing NBA return
Last season marked the first year Ben Gordon wasn't playing in the NBA since being drafted in 2004. He's set to suit up for Great Britain to help it qualify for Eurobasket 2017, and hopes the exposure will get him back in the big leagues.
"I would definitely love to get back in the league after being out for a year," Gordon told ESPN's Ian Begley.
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard signed with the Golden State Warriors on a training camp deal in 2015, but was waived ahead of the regular season. The career 40 percent long-range shooter said he can still knock down threes consistently.
"Just watching the way the game is being played, up and down," he said. "Obviously, the 3-point shot is always a big deal but it seems like just now, more than ever, that shot is being used more and more. So I feel like I can still play at a high level and shoot that 3-ball and add that kind of depth to a team that may be looking to fulfill that need."
While the 33-year-old's sights are set on an NBA return, if such an opportunity doesn't arise, he'll consider playing elsewhere.
"I look forward to getting back on the court this year, hopefully it's with an NBA team. If not, I have to see what my options are. But I definitely look forward to continuing my basketball career, to continue playing," he added.
Gordon recorded 14.9 points, 2.5 boards, and 2.5 dimes per contest over 11 campaigns while suiting up for Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte, and Orlando.
