Report: Red Sox won't hold farewell ceremony for A-Rod

Alex Rodriguez isn't going to get any kind of love from the Boston Red Sox as he closes out his tenure with the New York Yankees.

With Rodriguez playing his last road series at Fenway Park this week before his final game at Yankee Stadium Friday, a source tells ESPN's Scott Lauber the Red Sox don't have a farewell ceremony planned for the 41-year-old.

New York opens a three-game series in Boston Tuesday.

Rodriguez' villainous ties to the Red Sox are well documented.

After almost becoming a member of the team in 2003 in exchange for Manny Ramirez, a potential deal to the Texas Rangers was nixed due to complications surrounding a pay decrease for A-Rod.

He then had three infamous moments on the field against Boston, beginning in 2004, courtesy of Jason Varitek and his catcher's mitt.

Other such instances include him slapping the ball out of Bronson Arroyo's glove during the 2004 ALCS, and a 2013 plunking courtesy of Ryan Dempster.

Rodriguez owns a lifetime .285/.378/.516 hitting line with 59 home runs and 169 RBIs against the Red Sox.
