Report: Patriots' Cooper diagnosed with plantar fascia strain

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots guard Jonathan Cooper has been diagnosed with a plantar fascia strain, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Cooper was carted off during Saturday's practice and a subsequent MRI revealed the strain.

The Patriots acquired Cooper and a second-round pick in a March trade with the Arizona Cardinals for defensive end Chandler Jones.

Cooper failed to live up to his lofty draft status after being selected seventh overall in 2013, but the Patriots believe he can emerge as a key contributor on the offensive line.
