PGA won't honor Saturday tickets for Sunday's action

Eric Sucar-USA TODAY Sports

Only 37 players of the 86 remaining in the field finished their third round Saturday at Baltusrol, but the PGA decided that's enough action to validate that day's tickets.

Citing safety considerations, parking capacity, and operational limitations, the governing body announced it will not honor tickets from Saturday when third-round play resumes at 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

The move was instantly met with backlash on social media from angry fans who paid for a full day of golf and didn't even see half the players complete their round. None of the players in the top six entering the day even teed off to begin their round.

Just over 10 minutes later, the PGA announced it would honor Saturday tickets should the event need a Monday finish.

With thunderstorms expected throughout the day Sunday, the chances Saturday's patrons will see action Monday are quite strong.
