Cavaliers waive Dahntay Jones; return reportedly possible
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Saturday they've waived swingman Dahntay Jones.
Releasing him ahead of Monday's deadline ensures the Cavaliers aren't on the hook for over $1.5 million in guaranteed salary for Jones for the upcoming campaign.
There's a chance the 35-year-old will return to the team if he clears waivers, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
Though he only suited up for one regular-season game in 2015-16, the 12-year vet saw the floor in 15 playoff contests during Cleveland's championship run, totaling 17 points in 50 minutes.
His most memorable contribution during the postseason was the low blow he delivered to Bismack Biyombo in the Eastern Conference finals.

The transaction leaves the Cavs with nine players on their current roster - none of whom are named LeBron James or J.R. Smith, who are both still free agents.
