Last week Texas wide receiver Ryan Newsome decided to leave the Longhorns program.

Newsome decided Saturday that he'll transfer to Arizona State, which reunites him with receivers coach Jay Norvell, who recruited him to Texas.

"I am very excited and proud to say that I've committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils," the 5-foot-8, 166-pound Aledo, Texas native said on Twitter.

Newsome, who chose Arizona State over Michigan State, returned six kickoffs for 110 yards and made four catches for 23 yards as a freshman last year.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Newsome will have to sit out next season before joining the Sun Devils in 2017 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Arizona State went 6-7 last season, losing the Cactus Bowl to West Virginia 43-42.
