The Hanley Ramirez at first base experiment had been going well for the Boston Red Sox, until the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels.

With the bases loaded, one out, and clinging to a 1-0 lead, Red Sox closer Brad Ziegler induced a ground ball to first base. Ramirez collected the ball, but airmailed the throw home allowing two runs to score, handing the Angels the 2-1 walk-off win.

It marked the second time in as many days in which the Red Sox lost a game in the ninth inning. The loss also spoiled eight shutout innings from starter David Price.
