Report: Cowboys' McClain not present for start of training camp

Linebacker Rolando McClain did not board the Dallas Cowboys' team charter to training camp in Oxnard, California on Thursday, reports David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

McClain, who is suspended for the first 10 games of the regular season, has not been released by the team, adds Moore.

The veteran was reportedly in hot water with the coaching staff after failing to participate in much of their offseason workouts. Owner Jerry Jones defended McClain's decision to spend time with his family instead of his teammates, but coaches reportedly did not share that view.

McClain played well for the Cowboys last year, starting 11 games and making 80 tackles for the second straight season.

The team signed linebacker Justin Durant in the wake of McClain's suspension.
