The Texas Rangers pulled out all of the stops to get infielder Joey Gallo to Globe Life Park in time for Tuesday's contest against the Oakland Athletics.

Gallo was given a police escort to the stadium after being called up from Triple-A Round Rock.

According to Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the 22-year-old was asleep at 1:30 p.m. when he received the call that he would be playing in the 8:07 p.m. contest.

Already running behind and with potentially tedious traffic in his way, Gallo was met by a Texas State Trooper in Alvarado who escorted him to the ball park in Arlington on time for the start of the game - which was luckily delayed by an hour due to rain.

"We got to skip a lot of that standstill traffic,” said Gallo. "I just followed him. (He used) yellow lights, some times he would put the red, white, and blue on. Most people just pulled over. That definitely helped me get here on time. It was definitely pretty sweet."

Gallo ended up going 1-for-4 in the contest - his first of the season with the Rangers - including a two-run home run in a 6-3 Texas loss.
