Report: Ravens to sign former No. 1 pick Jake Long

Kyle Terada / USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a one-year contract with free-agent offensive tackle and former No. 1 overall draft pick Jake Long, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Long is said to be en route to Baltimore and is expected to make the deal official in the very near future.

For the Ravens, Long could act as an insurance policy for 2016 first-round pick Ronnie Stanley at tackle, but he could also compete for a starting job along an offensive line that recently lost Eugene Monroe, who was cut by the team and promptly retired.

Long spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he appeared in four games, after playing the previous two with the St. Louis Rams, and the five before that with the Miami Dolphins.

While he's played well at times throughout his career, the 31-year-old Michigan product has been plagued by injuries since coming into the NFL.
