The Washington Redskins have discussed signing free-agent defensive end Greg Hardy in the wake of a season-ending injury to pass-rusher Junior Galette, sources told ESPN's Ed Werder.

Galette suffered a torn Achilles tendon this week, the second time in two seasons an injury will prevent him from playing any games.

Hardy worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars recently, but didn't sign with the team. He has generated no other known interest since his release from the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year, likely because of the off-field concerns he brings.

According to Werder, Redskins cornerback Josh Norman, Hardy's former teammate with the Carolina Panthers, would vouch for Hardy if asked.
