Durant's OKC restaurant closes
Kevin Durant's popular Oklahoma City eatery "Kd's" closed Sunday and plans to re-open with a new name in September, according to Brianna Bailey of The Oklahoman.
Durant had partnered with local restauranteur Hal Smith Group to open the venue in 2013. After the longtime Thunder star left to join the Golden State Warriors via free agency this month, the decision was made to close the establishment.
"It has been an honor - and a lot of fun - to partner with Kevin Durant at Kd's these last few years," founder Hal Smith said in a statement. "We wish him the very best as he takes a new direction in his career."
Apparently the restaurant did not suffer a major downturn in clintele after Durant's July 4 announcement, even though some fans trashed the business on Yelp afterwards.
It is not known what the new restaurant will be called, or if it will have a sports twist at all.
