Auburn landed a major piece of its 2017 recruiting class Monday as four-star athlete Tray Bishop committed to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder, who announced his decision on AuburnUndercover.com, should transition to quarterback in Gus Malzahn's up-tempo, spread-based attack. He's ranked as the 17th-best prospect in the talent-rich state of Georgia, and comes in 126th on the ESPN 300.

Bishop narrowed his choices down to Auburn, Florida, and Georgia, and it appears the chance to play quarterback for the Tigers helped him decide. The Gators projected him as a safety, while the Bulldogs wanted him to line up at receiver.

His commitment prompted the following response on Twitter by Malzahn.
