Bills' McCoy on negative reputation: 'I know what type of person I am'

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy says he isn't letting the negative media attention that has surrounded him in recent seasons get to him.

"I know what type of person I am," McCoy told reporters before hosting a football camp for kids Saturday. "What I do for my community, the type of father I am."

McCoy suggested it's the media's fault that some fans see him in a negative light.

"The only opinions that people really get about players is what they see on TV or what the media gives them," McCoy explained.

McCoy was involved in a bar brawl that left two off-duty police officers with injuries earlier this year, but won't be charged or suspended by the NFL after investigators couldn't determine who initiated the fight.

It wasn't the first time McCoy made headlines for the wrong reasons. Since being traded to the Bills from the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2015, McCoy drew negative attention for advertising a "females only" party where he would provide the attire (the party was later canceled) and accusing former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly of racism.
