In a year where Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a happy ending in the Champions League as well as Euro 2016, the Portuguese superstar's to-do list is still far from complete.

On Saturday, in conversation with Lusa, Ronaldo admitted to speaking with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez about a new contract, saying the two parties will discuss the matter once he's back from holiday.

"I spoke to the president on the phone and when I get to Madrid, we will talk about it," Ronaldo said, according to Sky Sports. "Obviously it's something I want, I have mentioned it many times, and the club also wants it. But we only spoke briefly, and there will be more concrete things to come."

Ronaldo also confirmed that he'll miss the UEFA Super Cup in which Real Madrid will take on Sevilla, saying: "I am completely ruled out for the ninth (August) because my return date is the 10th, there is no chance."

Following Real Madrid's conquest of the Champions League and Portugal's triumph at Euro 2016, Ronaldo is a favourite for the 2016 Ballon d'Or. His 10 goals and three assists in the former helped Los Blancos add a 11th star to their shirt, and his three goals and two assists in the latter resulted in Portugal winning its first-ever major tournament.
