Michael Vick claims to be faster than Cam Newton

If you buy into what free-agent Michael Vick is selling, then it would seem that 36 is the new 27.

Vick, previously revered for his lightning-quick speed, is hoping for another year in the NFL and says he's still one of the top three fastest quarterbacks in the league - even faster than Cam Newton.

"No, Cam can't beat me in the 40," Vick replied when asked if Newton could top him in a 40-yard dash, according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer. "But his speed is decent. Decent speed. Good enough. Fast enough, I will say that."

The 36-year-old quarterback did concede that Newton would compete to be one of the fastest, along with Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, and Robert Griffin III.

Newton led all quarterbacks in rushing yards last season with 636 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to winning league MVP honors. During his prime, Vick was one of the most productive running quarterbacks in league history and admires what Newton has accomplished as well.

"I like Cam's style. I think you'll have more kids that will want to play with this kind of style," Vick said. "But everybody's not going to be blessed to grow to 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds. And it's all muscle. He's special."
