Toronto FC has added a ninth Canadian to its first team ranks, signing winger Tosaint Ricketts on Wednesday after the Edmonton native had been training with the team.

The club announced the move on its website, though as per MLS policy, the terms were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to add another Canadian international with valuable experience for both club and country," Toronto GM Tim Bezbatchenko said Wednesday.

"Tosaint has trained with the team and has fit in well within the group. We are pleased to get this deal finalized and have him available for selection this weekend."

The 50-time capped international brings plenty of experience to BMO Field having plied his trade in the top flights in Romania, Norway and Israel. His last spell in Turkey with Boluspor was cut short in early 2016 when Ricketts, 28, left in a dispute over unpaid wages.

Ricketts will be fit to feature in Toronto FC's next match when the fifth-placed side in the Eastern Conference hosts D.C. United on Saturday at BMO Field.
