Cardinals sign veteran CB Mike Jenkins

The Arizona Cardinals have signed veteran cornerback Mike Jenkins, the club announced Tuesday.

Jenkins spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after beginning his career with the Dallas Cowboys and a one-year stint with the Oakland Raiders.

The former first-round pick had 17 tackles and five pass defenses in limited time with the Bucs last season.

The Cardinals are likely looking for depth behind Patrick Peterson, Tyvon Branch, and Justin Bethel, and will hope Jenkins can return to his 2009 form, when he tallied 49 tackles and five interceptions.

In a corresponding move, the Cardinals released cornerback Carrington Byndom.
