Texas receiver Ryan Newsome transfers out of program

Texas wide receiver Ryan Newsome decided to transfer out of the program Sunday.

"I am announcing my decision to transfer from Texas," Newsome posted on Twitter. He added, "My time here has been short lived, but I will never forget the friends and relationships that I've built here that will last a lifetime. Thank you Coach Strong and the rest of the staff for giving me an opportunity to play ball at a special place like this."

The four-star recruit was part of the 2015 class, participating in seven games on offense and special teams. The Aledo, Texas native returned six kickoffs for 110 yards and made four catches for 23 yards.

Newsome had previously committed to UCLA before flipping to the Longhorns on signing day.
