Washington's Petersen: 'We have as much hype as the new Pokemon game'

Washington coach Chris Petersen can't figure out what the big deal is with his team, or that new Pokemon GO thing everyone keeps talking about.

"We have as much hype as the new Pokemon game that no one knows anything about but thinks is really cool," Peterson said Friday at Pac-12 media days.

After putting together a pedestrian-looking 15-12 record over the past two seasons, many are expecting a breakout season from the Huskies in Petersen's third year at the helm - and for good reason.

Washington enters the season with talented sophomores Jake Browning at quarterback and Myles Gaskin at running back, and return a host of veterans on defense, including standout defensive backs Budda Baker and Sidney Jones, as well as linebacker Azeem Victor.

The Huskies also boast a proven winner at head coach, but said coach added that he's "amused" by the hype suddenly surrounding his team.

Washington starts the season Sept. 3 versus Rutgers.
