Whitecaps, Toronto FC give Pokemon GO a shot

Toronto FC defender Nick Hagglund tried his hand recently at Pokemon GO, flicking Pokeballs (well, a Great Ball) at an Eevee at MAPFRE Stadium while in Ohio for a midweek 1-1 draw against the Columbus Crew.

Why he needed a Great Ball to catch a low-level Pokemon like Eevee, we're not quite sure.

Meanwhile, on the opposite coast, the Vancouver Whitecaps are two steps closer to fulfilling Professor Oak's instructions, adding Marcel De Jong and David Edgar to its Pokedex after a pair of difficult captures while out in the city.

The Whitecaps added the two Canadian international defenders to its roster earlier in the week, but while fans were under the impression the deals were signed in person with contracts and agents, the truth is the two seemed to join the team against their will.

The app isn't available in Canada just yet, though, but mobile news outlet MobileSyrup reports the game has still been installed by six percent of Canadians.
