Like a proud father, Sir Alex Ferguson was on hand to congratulate his former Manchester United players after Portugal's Euro 2016 triumph over France.

Nani was the first to notice the legendary manager as he made his way down the steps after collecting his winner's medal.

Ferguson held his hand out and called out to the midfielder, who shouted, "Boss!', before embracing the Scot.

Then Ferguson patiently waited for Cristiano Ronaldo, who was brought to United from Sporting CP in 2003. The retired gaffer stuck out his hand to greet the surprised superstar.

Ronaldo let out a noise of shock before giving Ferguson a hug as the two shared a quick word.
