Report: Wizards decline option on Drew Gooden

The Washington Wizards have declined Drew Gooden's $3.6-million option for next season, making him an unrestricted free agent, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

After agreeing to contracts with several free agents, the Wizards no longer had the funds to keep Gooden and stay under the cap, forcing them to part with the 6-foot-10 power forward.

The 34-year-old averaged just 2.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks in 30 games for Washington this past season.

The departure of Gooden means the Wizards will have almost an entirely new bench going into next season, with Ramon Sessions, Jared Dudley, Garrett Temple, and Nene all agreeing to deals with new teams.
