Gonzaga officially adds Jordan Mathews from Cal

Gonzaga officially announced the acquisition of guard Jordan Mathews as a graduate transfer from Cal on Thursday.

"Jordan is a proven big-time shooter and scorer at our level," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said in a statement. "He is a guy with great character and is a really good student. He comes from a basketball family and will be a tremendous fit with our team."

Mathews was one of the top transfers on the market after he averaged 13.5 points per game for California as a junior. He reportedly committed to Gonzaga on June 24.

The addition of Mathews should help Gonzaga replace the production of Eric McClellan and Kyle Dranginis, both of whom graduated from the program, in the backcourt. Mathews will be eligible to play for the Bulldogs immediately.
