Clemson rules against charging students admission to home games

After lengthy discussions this offseason centered around charging students season ticket fees, Clemson has decided against the move and admission will remain free for the 2016 campaign.

The move has kept Clemson in a class of its own, as the Tigers athletic department claims that the school is the only program in the ACC, SEC, or Big 12 that currently does not charge students for football season tickets or assess an additional department fee for all students.

"I know students are very happy to hear it," Clemson student body president Joey Wilson told Aaron Brenner The Post and Courier. "There's a lot of tradition at Clemson of letting students come to football games for free, which is something beautiful about Clemson, and it's something that should continue."

According to athletic director Dan Radakovich, the season tickets would have cost $225 each for a spot in either end zone sections or on "The Hill." That fee would have generated between $1.8 million and $2 million each season for the department.

Student tickets aside, season seat sales are booming for the ACC powerhouse. The school has sold out all 57,059 renewable packages for the 2016 season.
