Report: Roma spurns €40M Chelsea bid for Nainggolan

AS Roma has apparently rejected another approach from Chelsea for cigarette-crushing midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Italy-based journalist Mario Giunta of Sky Sport believes the latest offer to be worth a whopping €40 million (£33.3 million) for the player currently on Euro 2016 duty with Belgium, enjoying a room with a balcony as he satisfies his smoking habit.

But Nainggolan, 28, is going to be subject to further bids from Chelsea, according to The Independent's Samuel Lovett, as new manager Antonio Conte looks to make his mark on a side that underwhelmed in making 10th in the Premier League last season, therefore ensuring no European commitments for 2016-17.

Should reports be believed Conte wants to pair Nainggolan with Leicester City's Frenchman N'Golo Kante in midfield, another player similarly impressing at this summer's European Championship.

Nainggolan has previously spoken of his appreciation for the Premier League, but has also left the door open for a contract renewal at the Stadio Olimpico. His current Roma deal expires in 2020.

The all-action, tough-tackling Antwerp native played the full 90 minutes as Belgium trounced Hungary 4-0 on Sunday, booking a meeting with Wales in Euro 2016's quarter-finals.
