Portugal escapes fine after Ronaldo's selfie with pitch invader

Reuters

Portugal won't face any further disciplinary action after UEFA's Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body dropped pitch invasion charges against the country's football federation.

A fan rushed to Cristiano Ronaldo immediately following Portugal's second Group F match against Austria on June 18 to take a selfie. The Real Madrid man waved away security guards to allow the star-struck supporter to take the picture.

Portugal could've faced a fine as UEFA holds national teams responsible for the behaviour of their fans.

The majority of the charges at Euro 2016 have related to crowd disturbances and the setting off of fireworks, with eight teams in total receiving disciplinary action.
