Report: Purdue's Ra'Zahn Howard to enter NFL supplemental draft

Sandra Dukes / USA TODAY Sports

Purdue defensive tackle Ra'Zahn Howard will declare himself eligible for July's NFL supplemental draft due to academic reasons, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Howard was suspended by the Boilermakers in January and didn't participate in any portion of their offseason program. The 325-pound lineman was expected to transfer after his fallout with Purdue, but has reportedly elected take his talents directly to the NFL instead.

Howard played in all 12 games for the lowly Boilermakers last season. He was a stalwart along the defensive line, recording 23 tackles and one sack.

Rather than preparing for his senior season, Howard is said to be getting set for a pro day, which he plans to hold on July 8 in New Jersey.
