The San Jose Earthquakes announced Tuesday that the club has signed a multi-year contract extension with veteran midfielder Shea Salinas, though exact terms such as the length of the deal were not disclosed.

The 29-year-old has been a mainstay in the San Jose midfield for the better part of the last five years, and was also a member of the club in 2008 and 2009 before he was traded to the Philadelphia Union.

During his nine-year career in Major League Soccer, Salinas has made 216 regular-season appearances, scoring 12 goals and recording 39 assists in that time. The long-standing veteran has started five of San Jose's 15 matches in the 2016 season.
