NC State adds 4-star PG Markell Johnson to bolster backcourt

NC State's backcourt should be a force to be reckoned with next season, as four-star guard Markell Johnson announced Monday that he will be joining the Wolfpack.

Johnson is the ninth-ranked point guard by ESPN in the 2017 class, but recently announced that he graduated high school a year early, and was reclassifying for 2016. That decision will make him eligible for play immediately for Mark Gottfried's program.

Johnson's arrival on campus will give the Wolfpack an embarrassment of riches at the point guard position. 5-star recruit Dennis Smith Jr. enrolled early in January for the program, and should be ready to play when the season begins after rehabbing a torn ACL.

Playing both of the electrifying freshman at the same time would give the Wolfpack one of the most dangerous backcourts in the country next season.
