Germany's Hummels returns from injury to start vs. Poland

Germany manager Joachim Low can once again count on Mats Hummels, as the Bayern Munich centre-back returned from a calf injury Thursday to start against Poland.

Hummels replaces Shkodran Mustafi in the lineup. The Valencia defender scored Germany's winner Sunday in its Group C opener against Northern Ireland.

The 27-year-old only recently began training with the first team after tearing his calf in the DFB Pokal final with Borussia Dortmund on May 21.

Hummels, who has 46 caps for Germany, played a vital role in Die Mannschaft's 2014 World Cup run in Brazil.
