Report: Former Kentucky forward Marcus Lee commits to Cal

Dennis Wierzbicki / USA TODAY Sports

There seems to be no place like home for former Kentucky forward Marcus Lee.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported Saturday that the California native has verbally committed to Cal after spending the previous three seasons with the Wildcats. Lee declared his intent to transfer after removing his name from the NBA Draft this off-season

The 6-foot-9, 224-pound forward averaged 6.4 points, six rebounds, and 1.6 blocks while shooting .680 percent from the field in 21.8 minutes per game with Kentucky last season.

In an offseason that saw Jordan Mathews decide to leave the Golden Bears, the addition of Lee will provide head coach Cuonzo Martin with some formidable size in his starting lineup.

Lee will be forced to sit out the 2016-17 season as per NCAA transfer rules.
