Former Texas Tech signee Keon Clergeot is joining Tubby Smith at Memphis.

Clergeot originally committed to Smith and Texas Tech last fall, however, when the coach left for Memphis in April, the 6-foot-1 guard received his release from the Red Raiders program.

Clergeot had offers from Chattanooga, Duquesne, and Bowling Green, but decided on Memphis on Wednesday.

"I would like to thank my coaches who have been there with me from the start," Clergeot wrote on Twitter. "I am proud to announce that I will be continuing my basketball career at the collegiate level by attending To The University of Memphis. I'm taking my talents to Grind City."

"He has a relentless attitude toward playing the game. Keon is a very skilled offensive player and plays with a great deal of passion on the defensive end. He's a team player that can play the point guard and shooting guard positions. More importantly, Keon is an exceptional person," said Smith in a statement when Clergeot committed to Texas Tech last fall.

The Florida native averaged 26.5 points, eight rebounds, and six assists a game at Auburndale Senior High School.
