Marco Reus didn't have much to celebrate on his 27th birthday.

On Tuesday, Joachim Low announced the 23 players that Germany's national team will be taking to Euro 2016, revealing that Reus was one of four who "have dropped out of the squad."

Germany's medical staff advised against Reus' involvement after he picked up an an injury days before, and Borussia Dortmund confirmed that the playmaker is nursing an adductor problem. Of course, he also missed out on the 2014 World Cup after suffering an ankle injury, and Die Mannschaft did just fine without his presence on the pitch.

"He can only run in a straight line," Low said. "It's a big disappointment for all of us. He would have been a real asset for us had he been fit."

Low also said, according to the Guardian: "The medical staff could not give a clear prognosis for Marco. He has massive injury problems and the medical staff was very skeptical about his ability to last through the coming weeks and such a gruelling tournament. It is a bitter decision and bitter for Marco."

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels and Bastian Schweinsteiger, recovering from a knee injury and a calf ailment, respectively, have made the cut, with Low confirming "they will be fit for Euro 2016."

Elsewhere on the pitch, Julian Weigl and Joshua Kimmich, who were only added to Germany's squad for its pre-Euro 2016 training camp, both made the 23-man roster.
