Real Madrid's Marcelo Vieira da Silva Junior: Plays large role in Champions League final

Marcelo secured five interceptions, put in four crosses and landed a shot on goal during Saturday's Champions League final victory over Atletico.

Analysis:

The fullback was a constant presence in the attacking third for all 120 minutes, and he stepped up to bury a penalty as Los Blancos won with a brilliant shootout performance. Marcelo, who had another fine season, is set to remain at the club for four more years and will be one of the first names on the team sheet in 2016/17. His involvement with the Brazilian national team this summer could delay his return a bit at club level, however.
