Report: Lions to host free agent Nate Chandler

Jeremy Brevard / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions will host free agent offensive tackle Nate Chandler on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Chandler was released by the Carolina Panthers this offseason after missing all of 2015 with a knee injury.

The veteran has 19 NFL starts signed a three-year contract extension with the Panthers in 2014 prior to his injury issues.

Chandler also worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April but went unsigned.

The Lions are in the market for veteran training camp depth at the tackle positions, so Chandler could compete with Michael Ola, Cornelius Lucas, and Corey Robinson for a backup spot.
