Braves GM: We need to be overwhelmed to move Teheran

Their organizational rebuild isn't close to over, but after sending Andrelton Simmons to Los Angeles and trading Shelby Miller to Arizona this offseason to infuse their farm system with young talent, the Atlanta Braves are done swapping major-league assets for prospects.

That includes right-hander Julio Teheran, according to general manager John Coppolella, who said the Braves will only deal the 25-year-old if they can get a major league hitter of similar quality and age in return.

"The days of us trading players like Teheran for prospects are over," Coppolella said, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. "We need to get better at the major-league level. We would have to be overwhelmed to move Teheran."

Teheran, an All-Star two years ago, remains under control through 2020 and has enjoyed a strong start this season after stumbling through a rough 2015 campaign. Through his first 10 starts, he owns a career-low 2.57 ERA (151 ERA+) with a 1.03 WHIP in 63 innings while mitigating his struggles against left-handed hitters, a major issue for him last year.

Year ERA K/BB HR/9 OPS vs. LHB
2013 3.20 3.78 1.07 .823
2014 2.89 3.65 0.9 .687
2015 4.04 2.34 1.21 .893
2016 2.57 3.47 0.86 .731
