Panthers' Ginn won't slow down: 'I don't know what 'lose a step' means'

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn has always been known as one of the league's fastest receivers, but during his nine-year career, he's rarely been able to translate it into production.

However, that changed in 2015. Ginn enjoyed a career year as one of the focal points of Carolina's passing attack, catching 10 touchdowns and routinely using his speed to get behind defenses to create game-changing plays.

At 31 years old, Ginn doesn't envision himself slowing down anytime soon.

"I've been maintaining my speed over all these years," Ginn told Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Obsever. "I keep working at it. I don't know what 'lose a step' means."

With the return of Kelvin Benjamin, Ginn's role may be diminished this upcoming season. Benjamin missed all of last season due to a knee injury after accomplishing a 1,000-yard campaign as a rookie in 2014. Now, Benjamin appears to be fully healthy and ready to regain his place atop the depth chart.

However, Ginn is unconcerned about potentially being the forgotten man on Carolina's offense.

"I just go out and play football, and they put us in the positions they want to put us in, and we're going to be able to do what we do," Ginn said. "I'm happy that KB (Benjamin) is coming back. Then there's Stephen Hill, and Philly (Brown) has got himself together, and (Devin) Funchess has been coming along. It's going to be great to go out there with my guys and just have fun."

The Panthers will face the Washington Redskins in Week 15, meaning Ginn could potentially line up against Josh Norman, who departed from the team during the offseason.

Ginn was coy when asked who'd win one-on-one on a deep route between him and Norman.

"We'll just have to wait and see," he said, smiling.
