For the first time this season, the roof at Rogers Centre was open Friday. Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox, the reigning AL MVP made sure it poured.

Josh Donaldson - known as the "Bringer of Rain" on Twitter - almost single-handedly dismantled the rival Red Sox on Friday with the type of award-winning performance the Blue Jays have grown all too accustomed to, a two-homer, four-hit effort with five RBIs to help Toronto to a 7-5 victory.

Donaldson needed a triple to complete his cycle ahead of his final at-bat in the eighth, but the Blue Jays third baseman delivered something much bigger: a tiebreaking two-run blast off Koji Uehara that proved to be the difference.

The two home runs - Donaldson's 12th and 13th of the season - moved him into fourth among AL leaders this season, while the 4-for-5 effort raised his slash line to .257/.353/.540 through 49 games.
