Watch: 'Grandpa Rossy' hits 100th HR in final season

David Ross wasn't going to let time pass him by for much longer.

The popular and beloved Chicago Cubs backup catcher reached an important milestone in his final big-league season by mashing his 100th career home run - a three-run shot - over the left-field bleachers onto Waveland Avenue on Friday. "Grandpa Rossy" tried, and failed, to hide a giddy smile as he rounded the bases, and even took a curtain call.

After hitting his 99th home run on May 13, pitcher Jason Hammel told Carrie Muskat of MLB.com that Ross' 100th would elicit "one heck of a celebration" from his teammates - which it did, in the form of some bizarre hip checks in the dugout.
