Dolphins confident Wake will be ready for training camp

All indications continue to be that Cameron Wake is making significant progress in his recovery from last season's ruptured Achilles.

Asked Thursday about the veteran defensive end's odds of being ready for training camp, Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase expressed confidence that he's on pace for summer workouts.

"Really high," Gase said, according to Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post. "He's been doing things that make me think he's right on track."

Quickly returning to the field after an Achilles injury is no easy task for any player, let alone a 34-year-old pass-rusher who's long dominated with explosiveness off the line.

Participating in a full training camp, however, would give Wake the best possible opportunity to maintain his level of play this fall.

A former CFL star, Wake has spent his entire NFL career in a Dolphins uniform. He heads into the 2016 campaign having racked up an impressive 70 sacks across seven seasons, second to only Jason Taylor among the Dolphins' all-time leaders.
