Boise State expels 2 players after sexual assault investigation

Boise State has expelled a pair of football players following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that took place last fall, according to a report by Dave Southorn of the Idaho Statesman.

Linebacker Marquis Hendrix and cornerback Donzale Roddie were both expelled as a result of the investigation, which was launched after a student informed the school's Title IX director she had been sexually assaulted by members of the Boise State football team. Safety Darreon Jackson was also suspended for one year as part of the discipline handed out. The punishments were confirmed to the Statesman by the parents of all three players involved.

Boise State spokesman Greg Hahn told the Statesman late Wednesday: "Boise State is committed to thorough and fair investigations into all allegations of sexual misconduct - and to holding parties accountable when they are found to be responsible for violating the student code of conduct. But federal privacy laws restrict our ability to comment on any student records or any specific investigations."

In separate incidents during August, September, and October of last year, the victim claimed to have been pressured into performing oral sex on the players, as well as being forced to do the same for a recruit during an official campus visit. No criminal charges were brought against anyone involved, though it's unknown if the allegations were ever reported to police.

All three players were redshirt freshmen and didn't play for the Broncos last season.
