Broncos' Wolfe doesn't regret signing extension before Super Bowl

Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe signed a four-year, $36.7 million extension in January, and he doesn't have second thoughts about his timing.

Wolfe was outstanding during the playoffs and could have been paid a gargantuan amount during free agency after helping the Broncos capture Super Bowl 50.

The 26-year-old saw former teammates Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan, and Brock Osweiler cash in with massive contracts this spring, but said he's content with his decision to ink his new deal before the Super Bowl.

"Absolutely not," Wolfe told reporters Wednesday when asked if he had regrets. "I did what I felt what was right. I'm happy for Malik. He deserves it. I'm where I wanted to be."

Wolfe recorded 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pass deflection in three postseason games, featuring as a constant threat against both the run and pass. Although he likely would've fielded several offers, Wolfe insists he wants to remain with the Broncos for the foreseeable future.

"I’ll probably just play here until I decide to be done," he said. "That's my plan."
