Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson is feeling confident after briefly participating in practice.

Nelson tore his ACL prior to the 2015 season, missing the entire campaign. After sitting out the year, he caught passes for a short time during the team's session Tuesday.

Although he's back on the field, Nelson didn't set a clear timeline for his return, noting that the regular season is still months away.

"I feel great. Everything I'm doing, I'm comfortable with,” Nelson said to ESPN's Jason Wilde. "I'm not worried about anything else. Obviously, we’re still progressing and dealing with the situation that we're in. We don't have to push it too much -- we’re still in May. Our goal is obviously in September."

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy advised caution but was enthused by what he saw from his star wide receiver.

"He's right on schedule, I would say, and he’s sticking to the plan," McCarthy said. "I think he has to be smart in these times and just make sure we go about it the right way."

Aaron Rodgers is confident that his favorite target will continue to torch the opposition upon returning to the field, but noted that the duo will need to work together to get Nelson back up to speed.

"We've played a lot of football together, but it'll be important that we spend a little extra time, whether it’s on the side when we can this summer or in training camp. We'll make sure we put in the necessary time to make sure we’re on the same page," Rodgers said.

With the season months away, Nelson figures to be a vital piece of the Packers' offense as the team hopes to make their eighth consecutive playoff appearance.
