Jaguars' Woodard suffers torn Achilles; Bowanko to undergo hip surgery

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Monday that defensive end Jonathan Woodard, a seventh-round pick in this year's draft, tore his Achilles during on-field workouts and has undergone surgery for the injury.

The bad news for the Jaguars didn't end there, as the team also announced that center Luke Bowanko injured his labrum in his right hip and will require surgery as well.

Both players will be placed on the Jaguars' physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

While Jacksonville didn't officially rule out either player for the season, it's likely that Woodard will sit out his rookie season due to the severity of the injury.
