Arkansas transfer Denzell Evans commits to SMU

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

SMU added some depth to the backfield Saturday, as former Arkansas running back Denzell Evans committed to the Mustangs for next season.

Evans first told Patrick Engel of Scout.com about his decision and later confirmed it to Adam Grosbard of Rivals.com.

The graduate transfer will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, and should be a quality addition for a Mustangs unit that ranked 73rd in rushing last year.

The 5-foot-11, 222-pound Evans saw limited time in his career with the Razorbacks, carrying the ball just 15 times. Despite the lack of production, his experience against talented SEC defenses should help him at SMU.
