Baldwin: Seahawks will miss Marshawn Lynch
Seattle Seahawks players know that the team will have a much different feel following the retirement of star running back Marshawn Lynch.
Making an appearance on NFL Network on Thursday, wide receiver Doug Baldwin spoke of the difficulty in replacing a player of Lynch's caliber both on the field and in the locker room.
"We drafted a lot of running backs, and we know that we're going back to the run game," Baldwin said, according to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com. "But the idea of being able to fulfill that role, that void that Marshawn is leaving is going to be tough.
"Everything that he's done for us, not only on the field but also being our main stable leader in the locker room, we're going to miss him. It's going to be hard to go along without him. It was a light-hearted tweet just to show him our appreciation and give a little salute to him."
The tweet Baldwin refers to was from earlier this offseason, where he implored head coach Pete Carroll to honor Lynch by not allowing any players to wear his No. 24. for the foreseeable future.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider confirmed just days later that the number would indeed be taken off the table next season.
In replacing the five-time Pro Bowler, Seattle now turns to a crowded group of young running backs.
Thomas Rawls, looking to build upon a breakout rookie season, will presumably see work in a featured role if healthy in time for camp. Rookies C.J. Prosise, Alex Collins, and Zac Brooks, meanwhile, could each push Christine Michael for snaps in rotation.
