While scouring the league, doing their due diligence in search of a new head coach, the Memphis Grizzlies are also considering promoting from within.

The Grizzlies interviewed their own assistant, Jeff Bzdelik, for the gig Wednesday, Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated reports.

Bzdelik is one of several assistant coaches being considered by the Grizzlies, who've reportedly also interviewed the Hornets' Patrick Ewing, the Heat's David Fizdale, Spurs assistant Ettore Messina, and the Trail Blazers' Nate Tibbetts, among others.

Bzdelik has served as an assistant on the Grizzlies' bench the past two seasons after a decade-long NBA hiatus. His only head coaching stint at the pro level came with the Denver Nuggets from 2002-04, during which he posted a 73-119 record.

In the 10 years between his time with the Nuggets and Grizzlies, Bzdelik served as the head coach of the college programs at Air Force, Colorado, and, most recently, Wake Forest.
