Amobi Okoye heading to CFL's RedBlacks

Former Houston Texans first-round pick Amobi Okoye is hoping to restart his football career in the CFL with the Ottawa RedBlacks.

Okoye signed with the RedBlacks on Monday, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports, just three years after being placed in a medically induced coma due to a rare autoimmune syndrome.

"Amobi is excited about the opportunity to play football again," agent Darin Morgan told Wilson via text message.

Still the youngest player ever selected in the NFL draft at 19, Okoye is still only 28 and has regained his 300-pound stature during his return to football shape.

"I'm a walking miracle," Okoye said recently. "It took a while to finally diagnose what was going on with me. They never actually found a cause, but they knew how to treat it."

Okoye also spent time with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys during his time in the NFL, racking up 16 sacks over six seasons.
